Nancy's Description of Star Garden An island of sunshine and tropical flora surrounded by views of white sand, turquoise blue waters, and ocean vistas framed by distant islands - this is Star Garden, secluded atop Sydney's Fancy, the highest point on exclusive Peterborg Peninsula on the north coast of St. Thomas. The views from this luxury estate are stunning - some of the best in the Caribbean. To the west, you look down into beautiful Magens Bay, your view unobstructed from this famous beach to the Atlantic Ocean. Turning north, you overlook the length of Peterborg to the ocean horizon and to nearby Hans Lollick Island. To the east lies the breathtaking down-island panorama of the British Virgins, St. John, and neighboring cays. This property's main pavilion faces directly east toward the narrows between Tortola and St. John. It includes a plush Great Room with a big screen TV, a gourmet kitchen with cooking island and a bar island. A superb 12-speaker stereo system with an iPod connection sends your music through indoor and outdoor speakers. A few steps down from the terrace and centered behind the main pavilion is the 40-foot long pool, its curved infinity edge blending into the turquoise waters of Magens Bay. As the pool wraps around to meet a large boulder, it surrounds the large hot tub, creating the ideal spot for watching sunsets over the Bay. The pool includes a shallow shelf with chaises for sunbathing, while a trellised cabana offers shaded seating and a handy beverage cooler. While the excellent design of Star Garden maximizes its spectacular 300 degree views, it also ensures your complete privacy; its pavilions and trellises create a private compound for lounging "au naturel." Rental Notes If you are 1 - 4 persons paying the Low Season rate for 1-4, you will have the Main Pavilion and the Cottage Pavilion ONLY. PLEASE NOTE: A new house is being built next door on the S.E. corner of Star Garden (off the parking area) as of summer, 2008. Construction on a new home is starting on an already-existing foundation just southeast of Star Garden. We will be offering a 10 per cent construction discount during this work to all Star Garden renters booking this summer. However, Star Garden's pool area, including the hot tub, is entirely shielded from the construction site next door by Star Garden's one-story bedroom building (the "Cottage"), the parking trellis, and trees and foliage on both sides and on top of the parking area and in front of the Cottage. There is NO view of the pool, hot tub, or pool deck from the adjacent property where the house is going up. The only view of the new building site (other than the wall of the kitchen and dining room) is from the entry courtyard, accessed by the garden gate facing the driveway. Because of the dining room and trees on its east side, the large verandah of the main house facing down-island is only marginally visible from next door.
